Superpowers 1. What was interesting about this video was that it was argued that technology was capable of flying or healing abilities from cartoons. What was also interesting was that we had been thinking that the process of finding and collecting information and deriving the desired information was really simple, but we argued that it could also be a superpower. We are currently surrounded by a lot of information. Some of them may not fit the current topic to use, and there will be fake news to interfere with the argument. When we see them as villains, we have to use our abilities to defeat them. The claim that this is 'powerful' was most impressive because it allows us to judge what information is useful to me beyond knowing everything 2. The video above is a reminder that abilities that were considered superpowers in the past or were considered the exclusive property of God have come to modern society and have been simplified due to the development of technology and the in...

 1. What was interesting about this video was that it analyzed life extension from various perspectives by presenting technical support such as seat belts and the view that it can reduce human damage due to social institutions as well as ways to prevent biological aging in the topic of life extension. It also presented a scientific basis that immortality is not possible by presenting entropy's claim that the point of view of 'immortality' cannot exist. Through this, it indirectly suggested that life should be important even if life is extended. 2. The video above focuses on technically slowing aging. An example is recovery through nanomachines. However, at the beginning, it also suggested that technical support and social institutions can prolong life. 3. The link between this video and our class is economy. Currently, most countries are adopting pension systems. However, the problem with these pension systems is that as the aging era approaches, the number of elderly peopl...

[Extra Credit] D-1 이동규/ Lee Dong Gyu (Solar System Colonization Strategies)

 1. The process of terraforming non-Earth planets was intriguing in this video. Creating an environment to plant seeds before transporting them is extremely expensive. Nonetheless, this terraforming strategy is the most well-known for colonizing the solar system. The oxygen that plants grow and produce is also crucial in addition to increasing food production in line with the growing human population. It was also intriguing to note that terraforming moons centered on Jupiter and Saturn, which have strong gravity, could help create smaller solar systems in the solar system. 2. The video above explains how modern humans are going to get away from Earth and colonize the solar system as a residential environment and talks about what technology is needed to achieve this 3. Politics is what this video has to do with what we learned in class. When these ideas arise in the history of our planet, more capable leaders will be needed as a result of the growing population, and a revolutionary ...

Summary This paper deals with the concepts and their importance in demographics. Demographics study the size, structure, and distribution of a population with factors such as birth, death, migration, and aging. Demographic analysis is a powerful tool for explaining social phenomena. It also includes population growth and overpopulation issues, historical development, data and methodologies, fertility and mortality, demographic transformation theory, migration and urbanization issues, and more. Demographics play an important role in policy formation and helping social understanding. Interesting point I thought demographics were just used to measure the population of the town, but it was amazing to be able to take an interdisciplinary approach with a variety of social issues. Question  What are some of the most famous techniques for which demography is useful?

Summary This document deals with the impact of technology, the Internet, and the virtual world on society. Mobile technology changes lifestyles, and social networks help connect people, but can cause problems at the same time. Video games improve visual attention, but they can have a negative impact on some teenagers. Inequality in the digital world also exists similarly to the real world. These themes shed light on the complex effects of technology on social structures and personal lives. Interesting point It was amazing to feel the boundaries between the virtual world and the real world becoming increasingly blurred. Question  Will there be a day in the future when movies like "Ready Player One" become a reality?

Summary The document deals with race and ethnicity socially and explains that race and ethnicity are socially constructed concepts. Each country and time has a different classification of race and ethnicity, which shows that these concepts are not natural or absolute. Race is primarily classified externally and is based on physical characteristics, but ethnicity is based on social characteristics (nationality, language, culture, etc.). The document also deals with issues such as racism, prejudice, and structural racism. Interesting point I learned more about race and ethnicity. It was also impressive that the conflict started because different races and ethnicities live on Earth, and not only their physical conditions but also their shared ideas and symbols. Question It is said that it is bad for white people to discriminate against black people, and why do black people discriminate against yellow people?

Summary "Introduction to Society/Gender" explores gender and concepts of gender. Sex is determined by biological characteristics and is divided into male and female. Gender, on the other hand, refers to a gender role formed by social and cultural expectations. Sociologists distinguish between cisgender and transgender, which depends on whether an individual's biological and gender identities match. It deals with gender-specific social expectations, inequality, and changes in gender roles. Interesting point In modern times, there are quite a lot of social problems related to gender roles, and I found that this was due to stereotypes of gender roles.  Question What should I do to resolve the conflict caused by gender role stereotypes?

Summary Social inequality occurs when resources within society are unfairly distributed, and it is affected by various factors such as power, religion, kinship, fame, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, and class. Such inequality may appear to be a lack of equality of outcome or lack of equality of opportunity. It is also closely related to economic inequality, which is explained by the unequal distribution of income and property. Social inequality also affects access to various social resources, such as political and legal rights, education, housing, financial services, etc. Social inequality is formed by structural factors, cultural discourse, identity, etc., and it is important to understand the impact of such inequality on the functioning of society. Social inequality ranges from simple societies to complex societies, and inequality tends to increase as society's complexity increases. Types of social inequality include wealth, politics, responsibility, life, and member ineq...

Summary Social stratification means that people are stratified according to socioeconomic factors such as property, income, education, occupation, gender, and race. It defines the relative position people occupy in society, and each class is divided into the upper, middle, and lower classes. Stratification is evident in traditional aristocratic and peasant societies, and even more so in complex, state-based societies. Social mobility, or mobility between classes, determines an open or closed hierarchy. Scholars such as Karl Marx, Max Weber, and C. Wright-Mills analyzed social stratification from various perspectives. Interesting point I learned about social stratification, and it was a pity that there were people who benefited from the social class, resulting in social inequality Question  If Marx's method was adopted, what would be the first social problem to be solved?

Summary Dramaturgy is a sociological perspective that analyzes everyday social interactions by comparing them to plays. This theory proposed by Irving Goughman sees that people direct themselves to the 'audience' on the 'stage' as 'actors'. Here, the 'front stage' means an action performed publicly, and the 'back stage' means an action performed privately. Individuals play various roles according to social situations, and through this, they try to be recognized by others. Interesting point I found out that there is such a theory, and I can see that I sometimes do this behavior. The idea of directing myself through this dramaturgy was novel. Question  Can "Truman" from the movie "Truman Show" be selected as an example of "dramartrugy"?

Summary Symbolic Interactionism is a sociological theory that focuses on the process by which social actors generate and interpret meaning through symbols and languages. The theory sees the human self and society formed and maintained through interaction. The main theorists were George Herbert Mead and Herbert Blomer, who argued that the meaning that people give to things stems from social interaction. Symbolic interaction theory plays an important role in micro-social studies and social psychology. This is because shared symbols are needed for people's communication in micro-social studies, and the reason this theory is important in social psychology is that the content of psychological analysis can vary depending on the meaning shared symbols in society are used. Interesting point I learned that symbols have a great influence on communication, and if the symbols shared with each other are different, there is a considerable difficulty in communication. Question  The Korean d...

Summary Social networks are social structures that enable a variety of interactions. Essentially, it is an interdisciplinary field that combines various disciplines, which includes the perspectives of various theories. Social networks are the disciplines that help study the relationships between individuals, groups, organizations, and society in social science. One of the biggest criticisms of social networks is that individual agencies are ignored because the axioms of the social network approach to understand social interactions must be grasped through properties between units. Simply put, social networks are theoretical concepts that analyze social actors such as individuals or organizations and their relationships. Social network analysis studies these structures to identify regional and global patterns, identify influential actors, and investigate network dynamics. This field comes from social psychology, sociology, statistics, and graph theory, and social network analysis is...

W.10-2 Summary Social structure refers to a continuous relationship or bond between individuals or individual groups. This is the theory that members form groups based on their respective interests, which creates the structure of society. Early research on social structure provided information on the study of institutions, culture and subjects, social interactions and history. Most of the sociologists who studied this used their main research fields and various social fields to justify their theories. An example is the relationship between Marx's economy and power. The concept of social structure includes the interrelationships of specific entities or groups, the patterns of behavior that members of society continue in relation to each other, and institutionalized norms that structure the behavior of actors in society. Interesting point I could see that various scholars were interested in social structure, and I realized that various social discrimination did not occur based on a ...

Summary Deviation is an act that violates cultural norms and is a betrayal of what is expected in society. Deviation is divided into formal deviation and informal deviation, the previous case is a violation of the law, and the latter case is an act of violating un codified norms. There are several theories about deviation. Psychological and biological theories analyze the reasons for deviation psychologically and biologically. The types of social tension are divided into types of suitability, innovation, ritualism, retreat, and rebellion. Functional theory sees the advantage of being able to distinguish deviant from society rather than the negative side of deviant behavior. Conflict theory sees the reason why deviant occurs as inequality of power. The stigma theory explains the secondary deviation by acting according to the stigma after being branded as a deviation. Interesting point I know various types of deviations, and I know how to distinguish between deviations, so I think I...

Summary Socialization is a fundamental sociological concept composed of several elements. Different sociologists may have different concepts of this socialization, but the goals of socialization are mainly impulse control, development of conscience, preparation for performing roles such as professional roles, and cultivation of morality. In view of these, socialization is the education that a person can live as a person. There are various types of socialization. Primary and secondary socialization are classified according to the period of socialization. Primary socialization is mainly in children and adolescents, and secondary socialization is mainly in adulthood, and personality such as morality is learned in primary socialization and secondary socialization is taught. Extensive socialization promotes independence, and narrow socialization promotes obedience.  Like the company, each institution also conducts socialization. The reason why this socialization is important can b...

Summary A government refers to a system or group that governs a state as an organized community. Most governments adopt the separation of powers and basically adopt the legislature, administration, and judiciary. The word government is derived from the Greek verb κ υ βε ρν α ́ [ Ω [kubernáo], which means adjusting. The first government is recorded to have occurred 5000 years ago, starting with a small city-state. One of the reasons for the emergence of the government is the generation of surplus food due to the development of agriculture. It is because power was needed in the process of managing and distributing it. Since the 17th century, the form of government in the form of a republic has been distributed, and it has developed through various revolutions.  In this process, political science emerged to clarify the type of political system. Interesting point I became aware of the characteristics of government, and it seemed particularly interesting that the governance method...

summary Politics is a term that refers to the process through which people make socioeconomic decisions and is mainly applied to actions within civil governments. Governance is achieved by power, and the ways in which it is controlled include authority, violence, and authority. The type of government depends on how it is governed, and a monarchy is characterized by all the powers granted to the individual head of state and the hereditary power. Democracy is a form of government in which many citizens within a country or state have sovereignty. This government usually votes to select a person to hand over power, and the elected person takes on a representative character of the people. Totalitarianism is a method of governance that regulates almost all aspects of public life and private life and is characterized by the public governance of individual freedom. Oligarchy is a method of governance in which a small number of elite groups in society are actually powerful, and it is common for...

 W. 7-2 Summary Economic sociology is the study of social causes and consequences of various economic phenomena, and is largely divided into classical and new economic sociology. While the classical era was interested in rational and secular social stratification, modern times conduct research on all aspects of modern society of yesterday's phenomenon. Famous scholars of classics include Marx's materialism, Durkheim's division of labor, and Weber's economy and society. Famous people in the modern era include Fred L. Block and Richard Sweberg. Socioeconomics is a social science that studies how economic activities affect and form social processes.  In general, the focus is on how modern society moves due to the local economy or the global economy.  Examples include environmental changes, including natural disasters, pollution, and deforestation. Interesting point It was good to know the difference between economic sociology and socioeconomics, and to know various scholar...

Summary Economics refers to the way people use their environment to meet their material needs, such as bartering or the use of money. Examples include the production, exchange, and distribution of goods and services. The history of using money claims that the Lydians used gold and silver coins. In addition, capitalism was created in this economic society, and sociologists such as Max Weber analyzed this phenomenon. In the process, sociologists analyzed that capitalism works through components such as raw materials, money, labor, means of production, and production. Also, the price is determined by supply and demand. Official figures such as GDP or the Gini coefficient are also used to compare each country's economic level. Interesting point It was interesting to compare the economic levels of each country using various figures, and I learned what views various sociologists had to analyze capitalism. Question  After reading Max Weber's book, "Protestantism Ethics and Capit...

5-2 April 5th Summary: Sociology related to religion studies religion through social scientific research methods.  In classical sociology, sociological theorists such as Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, and Karl Marx became obsessed with religion and began to explore it. Karl Marx was interested in human reason, and thus religion was a hindrance to it. However, without banning religion, he used it as a justification for economic inequality. Durkheim considered religion to play a big role in unifying society and Weber wrote a book called Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism, combining religion and the spirit of capitalism.  Theoretical studies of religion include symbolic anthropology, phenomenology, functionalism, and rationalism. Symbolic anthropology and phenomenology argue that religion is a support for humanity to rely on. Functionalism interprets religion as unscientific, but I think it contributes to social stability. In rationalism, the theory of secularizatio...
