 1. Summary Economic Sociology Economic sociology is the study of the social causes and effects of various economic phenomena. It can be largely divided into the classical and modern eras. In the classical era, economics played an important role in the study of classical sociology, as sociology arose mainly as a reaction to capitalist modernity. The term 'economic sociology' was first coined by William Stanley Jevons in 1879. Modern economic sociology involves the study of all modern social aspects of economic phenomena. Economic sociology has emerged as a new approach to economic phenomenon analysis. Economic sociology particularly emphasizes the role of economic structures and institutions in society and the impact of society on the nature of economic structures and institutions.
