The widespread use of mobile phones has changed social customs and people's dependency, for example, reducing the need for public telephones and forming informal social norms for phone use. Many people use mobile phones in public places and increasingly rely on them to complete various tasks.

Social networks help develop business connections and maintain relationships, but they also bring issues such as improper behavior records that may affect the future, and the time spent on social networks may impact learning and work. Gender inequality also exists in the digital world; for example, women who post sexy photos may be perceived as less attractive and capable.

Regarding video games, about 68% of Americans play video or computer games, with the proportion of high school boys playing games significantly higher than that of girls. The benefits of video games include reducing the smoking rate among boys and enhancing visual attention. However, a minority suffer from health and behavioral problems, such as depression and fighting, due to game addiction.

In summary, this chapter elaborates on the multifaceted impact of technology on society, including both positive aspects and negative effects that need attention.

2.Interesting Point

On social networks, women who post sexy photos are often perceived as having lower physical and social attractiveness and are considered less capable of completing tasks. This reflects the continuation of gender bias from the real world into the virtual world, reinforcing negative stereotypes about women's appearance and abilities. This phenomenon indicates that even in digital interactions, gender discrimination and inequality persist, potentially negatively affecting women's social evaluations and opportunities.

3.Discussion

What responsibilities should social media platforms assume in reducing gender discrimination and promoting equality? What measures can they take to prevent and rectify these inequalities?
