1) What was surprising or interesting in the video?

The most surprising thing about this video is the story of Marianna's growth and the various cultural shocks she has experienced. It is very impressive to explore her identity while experiencing different cultures and lives in the U.S. during high school, starting when she was sent to a summer camp in Minnesota, a remote area of the U.S., as a plan of her father. In particular, the difficulties she experienced due to linguistic and appearance differences when she first came to the U.S., and the efforts to overcome them, resonated with many people.

2) What is the main topic of the video, and what do you think about it

The main themes in the video are diversity and inclusion. Marianna is emphasizing how important diversity is through her experiences and how much she can learn from the process of solidifying with others. She shares her experiences as a child, experiencing different cultures and languages at summer camps in the U.S., where she was perceived as a "different" being among children and experiencing the emotional difficulties that followed. This was the starting point for her to learn how to understand and embrace diversity, and it shows that she has since gone through the process of finding her identity and growing up with others through various challenges and trial and error.

Marianna highlights how diversity can contribute to personal growth and social integration, explaining the importance of interactions with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences expanding one's worldview and building mutual understanding and solidarity within a community. It is a topic that is very consistent with the various social theories we cover in sociology classes. In sociology, we explore how diversity and social hierarchy are formed, and how this diversity affects social connection and integration. Marianna's story is a good example of applying theoretical concepts to real-world situations and deeply expanding sociological understanding by highlighting the positive effects diversity has on individuals and society.

3) How does the topic of this video tie to what we have been discussing in class?"

The theme of the video is closely linked to the various social theories we learned in sociology classes. Sociology is the study of human social interactions, diversity, race, cultural differences, and social hierarchy. Marianna's story shows how diversity and minority group identity affect social interactions. Through her experience, she has embraced diversity and gained important lessons from developing her self. In addition, the topics she covered are also consistent with her academic understanding of social inclusion, fairness, and how we can socially integrate and grow through it. In this context, the video shows how we can apply the learned sociological theories to real situations, and highlights how diversity and inclusion play an important role in social connection and development.
