 1. What was surprising or interesting about the video?


Surprisingly, this video explores how life extension technology would have affected our traditional relationships if it had been available 150 years ago. I'm interested to think that if we stopped worrying about retirement, there would be dramatic changes in our lifestyle and social structure. The increase in population will be accompanied by various problems, such as the allocation of resources and the pressure on the environment.


2. The theme of the video and my thoughts


The main issue discussed in this video is "the ethics of life extension". Developing life-extending technologies is not only ethically controversial, but these medical procedures are often accompanied by inequalities. Should humans consciously extend the life given by nature? This is about the delicate balance of humanity and civilization in the universe. Extending life may sound like a good thing for individuals, like living to 150 is better than living to 100. However, from a social point of view, if life expectancy is extended at a time of low birth rates, it will not only lead to an increase in the proportion of elderly people, but also face the problem of overpopulation. Due to limited resources, only a small number of wealthy people have access to life-prolonging surgery, which leads to a concentration of privilege and increased social inequality.
