C. Lessons from a Teenager with Depression

1. This speech by Marianna Ribeiro tells about her personal experience, so as to give inspiration to today's teenagers and parents on how to avoid teenage depression and how parents should help and care for their children. This topic is worth pondering.

2. I have looked up the information, and it is estimated that 300 million adolescents worldwide suffer from depression, and the number of depressed adolescents in China exceeds 28.5 million.

Why do teenagers suffer from depression? My parents always say that today's children are more delicate, can not stand a little setback, psychological ability is too poor. But is this really the case? As far as the situation in China is concerned, most of the reasons for the depression of teenagers may come from the pressure of schools and parents, which is that the so-called Chinese exam-oriented education model leads parents to think that their children must get good grades and enter the ideal university, so they sign up for various tutoring classes, resulting in no free breathing time for their children. If the grades are not good, the teachers and parents will blame, and the child's self-confidence will be frustrated for a long time, doubting his own ability, thus hurting both sides.

Therefore, I personally prefer the European and American education mode, and also like the communication mode between parents and children in European and American countries, which can make children grow up with confidence.
