 1.Summary:

Sociologists distinguish between sex and gender and between six-sex/gender people and transgender sex/gender people. Cis sex/gender people are people who adhere to existing concepts of sex and gender in a given social, historical, and other context. In contrast, transgender sex/gender people are people who do not conform to existing concepts. Like sex, gender is a socially constructed interpretation of human behavior patterns. Sex, like sex, is fluid and can change. For example, a child raised as a male may later engage in female behavior, and the same can happen to women. However, it is clear that clear physiological differences between the sexes exist.

2. What was interesting/what did you learn:

I thought that although I could not decide my biological gender, I could decide my social gender. If you were born a man but are interested in what women do in society, you can do it. If you were born a woman but want to be masculine, you can live like a man. However, I think there is a need to think about this since it is still a country in Korea where it is not socially recognized.

3. Discussion Point:

Biological differences between genders are clear. Most men are considered stronger than women, and women are considered more meticulous than most men. There are clear differences, but what attitude is needed to prevent them from leading to discrimination?

Comments

  1. As argued in the above article, it is important to reduce gender-related prejudices and create a society where everyone can freely express their identity. In some societies, such as Korea, traditional expectations and stereotypes about gender still exist strongly, making it difficult for social recognition of various gender expressions and identities. In this situation, education and dialogue to change the perception of gender are important. Efforts are needed to form a culture that respects gender diversity and individual identity in people.

  2. An attitude of equality and respect is necessary to ensure that biological differences between genders do not lead to discrimination. Recognize each gender's unique strengths and provide equal opportunities to all individuals without discrimination. Additionally, gender stereotypes should be avoided, and evaluation based on competence and quality should be pursued. It is also necessary to raise awareness of gender equality through education and dialogue, and to strengthen the system to prevent gender discrimination through laws and policies.
