1.Summary

This post talks about theoretical concepts used in social and behavioral sciences. There is also the concept and history of social networks and their application in social and behavioral sciences. A social network is a social structure consisting of a set of social participants and the interactions between them.

The historical origins of the analysis of social networks are the early sociological structural theories, such as the theory of group relational networks proposed by Georg Simmel and the social graph developed by Jacob Moreno. It became popular in the 1980s as one of the main paradigms of contemporary sociology and has been applied in many other social and formal sciences.

The levels of analysis are divided into a variety of Although levels of analysis are not necessarily mutually exclusive, there are three general levels into which networks may fall: micro-level, meso-level, and macro-level.

At the meso-level researchers have begun to focus on larger scale networks such as: intra- and inter-organizational relationships. This involves the study of formal organizations as well as organizational forms such as online networking groups.

At the macro level it is found that this level is no longer concerned with interactions between individuals, but with the results of interactions, such as resource transfer interactions. The article also refers to the subsections of large-scale networks and complex networks.

In Theoretical links with Structural holes and Research clusters it was found that social network analysis is like studying how people interact on social media. This uses a variety of theories to understand how people are connected in networks and how these connections affect their behavior and decisions. However, this kind of analysis helps us to understand how information spreads in social networks and how people form groups or communities in different domains.

2.Interesting Point

Social network analysis is not just about interactions on social media, but touches on many areas of social and behavioral science. The researchers mentioned in the article explored interactions between people and so on. This kind of research helps us to understand the social structure, relationships, etc. We can then use this analysis and we can see more clearly how society works and why people make particular choices in certain situations.

3.Discussion

How do different levels of research relate to each other in social network analysis?

How do people form groups or communities in social networks?

Comments

  1. Despite its stability and inertia, the social structure is also dynamic. Over time and through social change, social structures can undergo significant changes that reshape the behavior patterns and roles of individuals and groups.

  2. Understanding social structure requires an interdisciplinary approach, involving the intersection of knowledge from sociology, psychology, economics, anthropology and other fields. Such comprehensive research contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the complexity and diversity of social phenomena.
