 1. Summary

Social network theory is a theoretical approach to studying interactions between individuals, groups, organizations, or entire societies in social science. It deals primarily with relationships formed by interactions, networks represent social contacts in corresponding units, and in large network analyses, the quality of information may be more important than the scale of the information. Depending on the theoretical questions, the networks are analyzed at the micro, intermediate, and macro levels. At the micro level, relationships between individuals or small groups are tracked, and at the macro level, interaction outcomes for large populations are investigated.

2. Mention of any new, interesting

The results of Zhixing Xiao's research that managers who frequently discuss problems with other groups achieve more positive results were interesting. This study emphasizes the importance of networks within organizations, showing that individuals play a large role in obtaining and sharing information. Therefore, I realized the importance of networks by newly learning that building and maintaining strong networks within an organization can improve organizational performance and help individuals develop their careers.

3. Discussion

In many organizations, it is said that members tend to concentrate on activities within their groups, suppressing creativity and limiting opportunities. Therefore, it would be beneficial to compare activities between working in a community and working individually and to find out the strengths and weaknesses of each person.
