1. Summary
I read materials that explain sociology and social structure. Social structure refers to a continuous relationship or bond between individuals or groups of individuals. The concept of social structure as a pattern of relationships between various individuals or groups, or continuous and relatively stable relationships, highlights the idea that societies are grouped into structurally related groups or sets of roles with different functions, meanings, or objectives. Within various social structures, social treatment of individuals can be understood as being related to their background.
2. What I learned
Early work on social structures informed the study of institutions, cultures and subjects, social interactions, and history. One of the earliest and most comprehensive accounts of social structures was provided by Karl Marx, who related political, cultural, and religious life to the way it was produced. Marx argued that the economic foundations and superstructures actually determine the cultural and political foundations and superstructures of society. The concept of social structures follows Marx in his efforts to identify the basic dimensions of society, with the most emphasis placed on economic production or political power in the 20th century, such as the structuralist, feminist, or Marxist, and functionalist views of Talcott Parsons.
3. Question
The concept of social structure can mask systematic biases because it consists of many identifiable subvariables, such as gender. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that social structures can cause biases to solidify.
What are some prejudices that have been cemented by social structures around you?

ReplyDeleteThere are many forms and types of prejudices that are hardened by social structures. As a general example, prejudices against race or ethnicity may be formed depending on the social structure or cultural background. In addition, prejudice based on gender or sexual orientation can also be affected by the social structure. This includes discrimination in roles between men and women or discrimination against the LGBT community.
ReplyDeleteThere are various prejudices, such as race, gender, generational, and economic, among others, among them. Among them, there are cases where adults think that "mz generation" is when they focus on intergenerational prejudice and do not understand the behavior of the younger generation.
ReplyDeleteRecently, our society refers to young people as the MZ generation and distinguishes and judges the difference from the older generation as a generation gap. Even in understandable situations, it is easy to see people generalizing things like, ‘Why are kids like this these days?’ or generalizing specific people or behavior by saying, ‘This is MZ.’ These actions are considered wrong because they emphasize the conflict between generations and society.
