Modern ethnic cleansing or genocide - Kim Seoyoung(김서영)

The Armenian Genocide was an incident in which the Ottoman Empire or the government of Turkiye collectively killed a minority ethnic group living in the territory of the Ottoman Empire and a Christian Armenians living in the periphery from the end of the 19th century to the early 20th century. During World War I, the forced migration of Armenians by the Turkiye government was carried out, and countless Armenians lost their lives. Most of the views recognize this as the first organized genocide of the modern era, but the Turkiye government does not recognize the genocide, claiming it as a sacrifice of forced migration. Since this issue still contains a more serious political problem, the view of the second Armenian Genocide varies greatly between the affirmative and the negative. Therefore, it can be said that little has been done to clarify the historical facts surrounding the genocide. On the part of Turkiye, which denies the genocide, most of the victims are Armenians as unfortunate due to the chaos of the front line in wartime. In other words, only combatants and spies in contact with Russia were killed, and the first victims on April 24 may have been included in it. In addition, this problem is said to be a modern ethnic problem that has arisen as a result of anti-Armenian emotions caused by terrorism by Armenian extremists. In Europe and the United States, there are many people who sympathize with Armenians. In addition, because Armenian lobbying exists in each country, there are countries that have resolved to condemn it in parliament, and it is considered that the Armenian Genocide actually existed.

The international community can raise strong condemnation of these incidents and take international sanctions and action. The United Nations and international organizations must conduct investigations into these incidents and push for international response. In addition, racial discrimination and prejudice can be eradicated by improving strong laws and systems that prohibit racial discrimination and monitor and punish it domestically. It is important to strengthen the protection of human rights and build a social culture that respects diversity. It is important to work hard to solve the problems of racial cleansing and genocide by comprehensively applying these various approaches. It requires efforts at the local and international level, and long-term and continuous efforts are required.
