W9.1 April 29 (Mon) - Kim Seoyoung(김서영)
1. Summary
Socialization is the process of learning how humans function in a particular society. It is culturally relative, and people from different cultures, races, classes, genders, religious and social positions socialize differently. Primary socialization occurs in childhood and adolescence, and secondary socialization occurs throughout life when new groups are met. In the primary and secondary socialization processes, it is influenced by various factors such as parents, guardians, friends, and schools. Theories such as symbolic interactionism, role theory, reinforcement theory, and internalization theory help us understand socialization.
2. Mention of any new, interesting
It was interesting to note that social support and empathy form perceptions of death and play an important role in individuals' acceptance and preparation for death. Through this, I was able to better understand the fact that humans are greatly influenced by those around them and the importance of the socialization process.
3. Discussion
The primary and secondary socialization processes are greatly influenced by the people around them. Then, how can children growing up in a socially isolated environment change the primary and secondary socialization processes?
Children who grow up in a socially isolated environment do not experience the primary socialization process they experience in childhood. Therefore, only the secondary socialization process remains, and in this process, I think socialization including the contents of the primary socialization process is necessary.
ReplyDeleteEducation systems can provide various social experiences to children who are socially isolated. Schools or educational institutions are places where children learn how to interact and communicate with others. So, education systems can provide children with opportunities for social interaction and help strengthen social skills.
