A fascinating insight is that globally, only two national governments do not define themselves as democracies. Paradoxically, countries like China, North Korea, Vietnam, and Russia, known for non-democratic practices, often claim democratic status. Global surveys indicate that nearly half of all governments are categorized as "electoral democracies," underscoring democracy as the preferred but imperfect system of governance.
