W2.1 weekly blog for reading material:

1.Summary

In this chapter, the author outlines the thinking abilities that sociology students develop through studying sociology, their potential contributions in enterprises, and particularly emphasizes the role that sociology students play in reconciling the relationship between enterprises and consumers.

From this, we perceive that sociology, as a comprehensive discipline covering multiple aspects, has close connections with disciplines such as social marketing and public relations. After acquiring sociology knowledge, most graduates have mastered skills related to sociology, providing them with great convenience in handling their work. Sociology itself is integrated into their daily work, which is a characteristic distinct from that of science students. As is well known, the knowledge acquired by undergraduate graduates in university is often limited. Sociology nurtures students' thinking abilities, enabling them to continuously acquire new knowledge in their future lives using a sociological thinking model.

2.Interesting Points

I believe that for sociology students, studying sociology itself is not an end in itself, and the process of learning sociology benefits them greatly. I believe that in future studies, we will also be able to master the critical thinking required of sociologists and become accustomed to thinking from different perspectives.

3.Discussion

Many students studying sociology pursue careers in businesses after graduation, utilizing the skills they acquired in studying sociology to analyze consumer psychology. Is this an attitude that places them above ordinary social groups? Does their analysis of consumer psychology align with their original intention of studying sociology?

  1. "sociology students, studying sociology itself is not an end in itself, and the process of learning sociology benefits them greatly" I couldn't agree more with this statement; the process of learning sociology can provide our students with rich experiences and profound inspiration that go far beyond the mere acquisition of knowledge. Through the study of this social discipline, we can develop critical thinking, analytical skills, cross-cultural understanding, and the ability to solve real-world problems. These skills are useful both in the workplace and in everyday life.
