- Summary Sociologists study religion in the same way that they study other social institutions, such as education or government. But sociologists are not interested in whether religion is right or wrong. The purpose of sociologists' research is basically to focus on a relativistic perspective that takes a neutral stance on issues of right and wrong, or true and false. In addition, the connection between sociology and religion shows that religion has a great influence on society, and examples include the United States and Africa. , South America and  They are  particularly influenced by Christianity. -Interesting I was impressed by the high influence that religion has on society, especially in the United States, Africa, and South America. -Question There are various religious sects (Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism) in our country. Why is God in Christianity often portrayed as a male? - Christianity has a long history and in ancient societies, men had more power and status in society, religion and culture, so Christianity's depiction of Jesus as a man is more in line with the social ideas and values of the time.

In terms of structural function, religion has the functions of cohesion, control and meaning in society. However, this approach has been criticized for ignoring the dysfunctions that religion can cause, such as being a justification for violence and war. In terms of social conflicts, religion maintains the social status quo and inequality and becomes a tool of oppression and control. Marxists believe that religion is a tool used by the bourgeoisie to satisfy the proletariat, but there are also criticisms of religion, believing that religion is a deception to the proletariat. In terms of social construction, religion is created by society by portraying certain elements of society as sacred. The presence of rationality structures reinforces religious beliefs and recognizes them as part of reality. In terms of religious pluralism, people can overcome differences and sectarian conflicts between different religions, and respecting common beliefs is the key. Religious freedom

1. Summary The Introduction to Sociology/Religion section explores the intersection of two fundamental aspects of human experience: sociology, the study of society and social behavior, and religion, the belief systems and practices that shape individuals' lives and communities. This introduction highlights how religion is a significant social force, influencing values, institutions, and the social order. It discusses how religion can unite or divide societies, the role of religious organizations in social structures, and how religious beliefs and practices shape individuals' social identities and behaviors. The intersection of sociology and religion offers a rich framework for understanding the complexities of human society and the diverse roles religion plays in it. 2. Interesting Project An interesting project related to the Introduction to Sociology/Religion could be a cross-cultural study of religious practices and their impact on social cohesion. This project would involve

1)In studying culture, religion is very associated with nearly every aspect. Regardless of the truth(that it exists), the existence of a religious group impacts the sole way of living life. However, religious is deeply involved with history, and even the same truth can be altered into several different organizations like the church, ecclesia, denomination, sect, and cult. 2)The statistics of religion that the sociologists researched are quite interesting. Other than the main factor of religious teachings, it shows us the majority who holds the power of the group unconsciously. 3)Should influential cults be granted denominational statuses? How much can a religion from one branch become altered? Why aren’t most cults in Korea considered acceptable?

1)The study towards culture is quite attentive to sociologists. To explicate the types and features of culture is essential to analyze situations in different regions. Initially culture was considered to exist, which lead to grading different cultures. Nowadays, culture is treated to be understood instead of estimated. Although, it is still classified into material and symbolic, sub and counter in order to clarify the character of it. There are also perspectives of culture interpretation.   2)I’ve noticed that cultural change is deeply involved with scientific development, or even just discovery. First it was due to natural phenomenons that directly affect a human’s lifestyle. Then it was human inventions and development of technology that richened and abled basic human survival. Lastly, due to trading and online media contacts, people in different cultures became able to share and alter one other’s culture. 3)Is it truly justice to ban certain cultures that are based of discriminati

Who has the power in the society? - Kim yeonhee(김연희)

I believe politicians and businesspeople hold significant power in society. Politicians enact laws that either guide or restrict our actions, while businesspeople provide the financial means for our survival and supply essential goods and services. The laws, money, and products they offer directly impact our lives, making us susceptible to their influence. However, this is where social activists come into play. As individuals, we often lack the power to counterbalance politicians and businesspeople. Therefore, we unite as a collective force and engage in social movements. The strength of social activists compels politicians and businesspeople to consider the perspectives and demands of citizens.

But what makes a society better? - Kim yeongee(김연희)

Here are my criteria for a good society: 1. Equality for all: Everyone should be able to live with dignity and respect, free from discrimination. 2. Freedom and autonomy: Individuals should have the freedom to pursue their own goals and aspirations without undue restrictions. 3. Equitable distribution of wealth: While I don't advocate for communism, extreme wealth disparities should be addressed. Resources and opportunities should be accessible to all. 4. Education and empowerment: Everyone should have access to education and be empowered to express their opinions and participate in civic life. 5. Fair and just legal system: All individuals should be subject to fair and impartial trials, and punishments should be proportionate and just. Building such a society requires a high level of civic consciousness, empathy among its citizens, and appropriate laws. Higher education, including character development, and laws that ensure social stability and public safety are crucial for creati
